This course is chosen in two cases: to study at a Czech university in English (in this case, training is always paid). The second option, when the applicant has not yet decided on future profession, but there are reasons to learn English along with Czech.

The Czech Republic is a modern and rich state: there are many international companies here, where the main language of communication is English. Good level speaking increases your chances of getting a career and internships.

Classes at the Association are taught by professional lecturers from Czech or foreign universities, that is, you will be taught Czech by Czechs, and English by real Anglophones from the USA, Canada, and Australia. We are sure that in order to learn a language, you need to immerse yourself in its environment, so we invited international specialists.

Our courses include career guidance. We help with choosing a future university at seminars and individual consultations. We find out the details of the entrance exams and begin planned preparation (more about it below). We also advise our clients on bureaucratic issues - visas, nostrification, help with registration with the police, etc.

Where can you go after our courses:

Two simple examples:

Philological direction (Russian language + English language or English language + Czech language) of the Faculty of Philosophy ZČU in Pilsen. This university has had no entrance exams for the sixth year, so it is on this list as a safety net. In any case, after it you will improve your languages and will be able to work, for example, as a foreign language teacher in Czech schools. It is important to remember that teachers in the Czech Republic are not like teachers in the CIS, that is, quite a decent salary and, in principle, the prospect of progress.

Faculty of International Relations of Charles University. At the entrance exams you take general test in erudition (history, law, geography) and two tests in foreign languages. Many significant political figures in the Czech Republic and the EU graduated from this faculty, and in general this university is known throughout the world (it is almost 700 years old and, for example, Albert Einstein taught here at one time), so graduating from it means being a successful careerist with one leg.

What's included in the price:

  • A complete package of documents for a visa;
  • Preparing for an interview at the consulate;
  • Selection of accommodation.
  • And also:
  • Upon arrival in Prague, we always meet everyone at the airport;
  • We will organize a transfer;
  • We settle in and get to know Prague;
  • We help you buy a travel card;
  • We recommend exchangers with a good rate;
  • We issue a local SIM card so that you can stay in touch with your parents and supervisors;
  • We provide a link to our web instructions on household issues;
  • We prepare documents for nostrification;
  • We resolve issues at the magistrate’s office for students;
  • We control attendance and monitor academic progress;
  • We give feedback to parents.

Studying at OCA Praha is divided into two semesters:

The first semester is from September to December. While we are preparing your documents for nostrification, students are immersed in Czech grammar and diacritics. Classes at the Association are taught by professional lecturers. All Czechs. In the first half of the year, classes in blocks and English appear in the schedule, where students are already prepared for entrance exams.

Second semesterfrom January to May. At this time, students are preparing to take the nostrification test (on their own or as part of our special courses). We present various universities, go with students on days open doors to universities. And most importantly, we help you submit electronic applications to universities for admission. We are writing a language exam in May.

Classes at the Association center are held in two shifts, so students, of course, have plenty of free time. We saturate it as much as possible:

  • We organize language clubs at school;
  • We watch Czech cinema;
  • We celebrate local holidays according to all traditions;
  • We play sports together;
  • We arrange entertaining quests in Prague;
  • We go on excursions to Czech castles or European countries;
  • From November to February we attend open days at universities;

Why Association?

Our advantage is the best ratio of teaching hours and cost in the country, which, by the way, includes education itself, preparation for admission and nostrification, leisure, supervisory and visa support - you don’t have to pay anything extra.

We are included in the register of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic - this means that our certificate is recognized by universities. You do not need to take an additional language exam. Of course, we cannot guarantee your future level of language proficiency, but almost all of our students reach level B2 within a year. It is enough to go to the budget in the Czech Republic.

We have an individual approach and groups of up to 15 people, classes take place in the center of Prague

You can also pay for our courses in installments if you cannot do it right away.

The summer school in Poděbrady has been held since 1990 and can be called classic, it is aimed at people over 18 years old. Minors can also participate, but one parent may be required to participate in the school. The price is only 760 €, but it only includes training and educational materials. There is no transfer included in the price, but it is easy to get to Poděbrady. Accommodation for 25 days in a 5-minute walk from the castle will cost 152 €, about 200-500 € should be budgeted for food, excursions cost symbolic money, this ranges from 2 € (Poděbrady glass factories) to 20 € in the case of various cities in the Czech Republic ( Loucen, Jablonec nad Nisou, Kutna Hora, etc.). You can get a discount of 50 € on the course if you travel with a relative, if you participated in a summer school in previous years or if you paid for the course before May 31st.

Czech language classes are held on weekdays before lunch, 5 hours a day, 25 hours a week, at the end of the course you can take the CEFR exam. During the summer school, a series of classes is held about the history, geography, culture and other aspects of the Czech Republic, and sports and cultural events are held outside of school hours.

Quite a budget option for lovers of a real Czech atmosphere - emphasis on language, Czech culture, studying in a 13th-century castle, trips to truly Czech cities without the tourist gloss. I emphasize that this is a school for independent people; schoolchildren should be sent to it carefully, because nutrition issues are decided by the student independently. In Poděbrady, but for a 14-year-old schoolboy the very fact of making such decisions can be perplexing. The contingent of students is also sometimes bearded; perky schoolchildren can be bored.

Czech and Czech culture (Prague-Albertov, 935 €, from July 29 to August 23)

With the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Prague City Council, a summer school with a focus on Czech culture is held in Prague's Albertov Center in August. The price is 935 €, which includes tuition, educational materials and a cultural program. I emphasize that the price does not include accommodation and transfer. On Monday it's theater and art, on Tuesday music and fine arts, on Wednesdays, modern Czech cinema and meetings with their authors, on Thursdays, groups have excursions around Prague with their teachers. According to Czech hours, everything is standard, 5 per day, 25 per week, at the end of the course you can take a paid CEFR exam. Discounts are available for coming with a relative, participation in UJOP summer schools in previous years, payment before May 31.

Accommodation for students of this school is provided in the city center in the UJOP directorate on Visegrad, within walking distance from Albertov. Single accommodation will cost 580-620 €, double accommodation costs 330-480 €. Meals are purely independent and therefore you should understand that in Prague, as a big city, this will be a rather expensive pleasure; in 25 days, according to my estimates, you will spend about 500 €.

On weekends, trips around the Czech Republic are organized for an additional fee; the prices are not fundamentally different from those for the Podebrady summer school; you can budget 20 € for each, excluding meals.

Albertov has very close contacts with representatives of the Prague cultural scene and therefore if you like Czech cinema, theater, gatherings with people of art, then you should prefer this school. As you can see, Podebrady is more expensive in terms of money. The age limit in Albertov is the same as in Podebrady - this is a school for adults, minors participate as an exception or in the case of the participation of one of the parents.

Czech for adults (Prague-Krystal, 780 €, July 1-26)

The Prague analogue of the famous Podebrady summer school is the Albertov School, in 2019 it is taking place in Kristall. Similar price (780 € instead of 760 €), same dates, same 25 days, same emphasis on language, no accommodation or transfer included in the price.

Students of this summer school live in Hostivar, which is at the other end of Prague and the travel time with 1 change is about half an hour. Single accommodation will cost 265 €, double accommodation – 360 €. You can save up to 100 € by coming with a relative, participating in UJOP summer schools in previous years or paying before May 31st.

If in Poděbrady there is a noticeable emphasis on trips to various small Czech cities, then in Kristall attention is paid to the sights of Prague. Trips around the outskirts of Prague are available for an additional fee on weekends, but this is still not the core of the program.

English (Prague-Hostivar, 320-560 €, July 8-26)

Due to the growing demand for English programs UJOP of Charles University, along with Czech summer schools, organizes recent years And English school on the basis of the Gostivar center. The program contains from 50 to 90 hours of English and therefore the language load is higher than at summer schools Czech language, about 6 hours a day. Excursions to Dresden (20 €), Kutna Hora (23 €), Karlovy Vary (10-12 €), Konopiště and Karlštejn castles (13 € each) are available outside of school hours.

Accommodation is provided here in the hostel of the Hostivar center, 126 € per bed in a double room or 152 € for a single room. Transfer from the airport is available for a separate 25 €.

It’s difficult to talk about the advisability of studying English in the Czech Republic, but if you want to combine a visit to the Czech Republic with English classes, why not. Every year a number of people interested in this format contact me.

  1. Irina

    Good afternoon
    Please tell me until what time can I pay for the Czech course for adults in Poděbrady (July 6-31)? And are there any discounts possible if we are going to come together?
    Best regards, Irina.

  2. Ilya Rudomilov

    Irina,

    There is essentially no clear deadline until the end of June. I recommend aiming to pay the maximum by mid-June.

    If you are traveling with a relative, there will be a discount of 50 €. Also, a discount of 50 € is provided in case of full payment before May 31st.

  3. Elena

    Good afternoon, Ilya!
    Am I correct in understanding that the summer school program starts each summer from “scratch” (alphabet, pronunciation, basic grammar, etc.)?

  4. Ilya Rudomilov

    No, each summer school is not just from scratch. At the beginning of the course, a test is administered and students are divided into groups; there are also continuing groups.

    But, I repeat, even after 10 summer schools you will not be prepared to enter a university; this is not an alternative to year-long courses.

  5. Elena

    Good afternoon, thanks for your answer! I'm not going to go to university, the years are not the same anymore :). It’s just that a couple of years ago I studied Czech (courses at the Czech Center at the Embassy in Moscow) and, I hope, I still remember some of the basics - I wouldn’t want to start all over again.

  6. Ilya Rudomilov

    Elena,

    There won't be any problems, don't worry :) For your case, I would recommend summer school in Podebrady - applications are still being accepted

  7. Timur

    I would like to express my gratitude to the staff of the Prague-Krystal Summer School and Ilya for the wonderful holidays for my son. It was nice to receive an SMS from Mrs. Oksana (since I was out of the service area and did not receive calls) that my son was met at the Prague airport. The trip around the Czech Republic, to Dresden, as well as visiting the sights left a good impression. Special thanks to Ilya, who accompanied us to Alza (www.alza.cz) and provided assistance in purchasing electronics. Before flying out of Prague, my son applied for Tax Free. My task was to give my son the opportunity to compare countries, broaden his horizons, be independent, make decisions - and I succeeded. At the same time, there was no goal to learn the Czech language (this is unrealistic in three weeks), only familiarization. One minus - we registered in advance, and the discount and favorable euro exchange rate appeared later, but the usefully spent holidays compensated for the negative.

  8. Ilya Rudomilov

    Timur,

    Thank you very much for your detailed review :) Yes, we are ready to solve even the most non-standard issues, even dealing with electronics, if the situation requires it :)

  10. Tatiana

    How about my group (14 years old) and I learn English in a good school in the summer and go on excursions? Where can I go, please tell me.

  11. Ilya Rudomilov

    Tatiana,

    I won’t tell you anything within the framework of UJOP, and I don’t know of any other decent school with summer courses. No matter how much I come across summer schools in other places, students always unanimously say something like: “Besides, we sent a girl to summer courses last year through [SCHOOL NAME] - it was terrible!!” (direct quote from a recent letter from one of the mothers).

    In general, I believe that a language should be studied in the appropriate country - studying English in the Czech Republic is perhaps illogical.

    My personal opinion, nothing more.

  12. Olga

    Can you please tell me when registration for summer courses 2016 opens? I want to send my daughter, 15 years old. Is it possible to choose language courses for yourself at the same time? And what will the accommodation be like?

  13. Ilya Rudomilov

    Olga,

    At the end of winter, in spring. I consider it optimal to submit an application in March-May for

    Yes, you can study in one place for both.

    Which summer school are you interested in? Because different summer schools are held on the basis of different schools. centers and therefore different dormitories - most of them are 2-bed rooms.

  16. Volodya

    What about the summer school at the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University?
    http://lsss.ff.cuni.cz/
    The place is very decent, in my opinion.

    It was comical to study from textbooks from teachers who wrote them. Among them is an incredibly erudite teacher and a wonderful woman PhDr. Jana Bischofová. In general, I remember the time spent there with great warmth.

    The program is aimed at Slavicists around the world and very often those with whom I had to communicate said that studying the language is better in Brno, and to get acquainted with the Czech Republic it is better to choose this summer school.

  17. Ilya Rudomilov

    Volodya,

    The FF hosts courses and summer schools for bohemians, so readers of Podebrad.ru will probably not be interested.

    It seems to me inappropriate to compare language teaching at different schools, i.e. everywhere it is a superficial and short program. The talents of teachers really shine through on long-term, complex projects such as annual courses.

  18. Volodya

    The approach and emphasis are different, it can be useful simply for a “brain shake-up”. You finish the UJOP courses, all inspired (C1 is just around the corner;), and then with the light hand of the professors they show you the problems of modern linguistics and your jaw drops, you are afraid to speak... 😀

    I think it's better to be aware of this possibility. By the way, at the courses there were quite a few “those who are simply interested in Czech without plans to move and, of course, study in the Czech Republic,” everyone was happy :)

  19. Ilya Rudomilov

    Volodya,

    Good UJOP graduates actually have C1, it’s just that no one takes C1 - a C1 certificate is not needed anywhere. Nowhere at all - neither for admission to universities, nor for permanent residence, nor for anything else. Just like I haven’t seen anyone asking for a certificate when applying for a job—everywhere they look at factual knowledge, because even if you have a C2 certificate, you can successfully forget everything in 5 years at a university.

    Even I am unfamiliar with the problems of modern linguistics, and it doesn’t even interest me - out of boredom I leafed through linguists’ textbooks and wondered why this was a rape of the brain. My interest in languages is purely practical.

    Theoretically, anyone can study at courses for bohemians, but this seems to me to be the same nonsense as hammering nails with a microscope. It is possible, but it is irrational. Likewise, Bohemians should study in courses for Bohemians - so that Bohemians receive a full theoretical load in the context of linguistics, and those simply interested in Czech get more practice and vocabulary. As an IT specialist, I absolutely don’t want to take advanced training courses for IT personnel with, for example, a 45-year-old economist who has just decided to make his own personal web page - in order for the whole group to understand the material, its level will be deliberately lowered and therefore I It will be boring, but it will be extremely difficult for an economist who is 45 years old, because for effective presentation the layers of programming theory, algorithms, etc. will inevitably be touched upon, which he has no clue about at all.

    The big problem in the Czech Republic is that there is little control over people’s actions; everyone trusts everyone. They wrote “These are courses for professional bohemians” - it means that everyone is considered to have read the warning and understand the risks. But no, no one understands anything, everyone climbs at random (and on the FF there are several options for bohemians), and then while sitting on the courses it begins, “Why did they sign me up for the course if they don’t make a program for me?” Or as with the UJOP courses - “Why was my application accepted on May 15, but I didn’t get my visa in time for the start of the course?” year to get? UJOP shouldn’t have recorded it since I don’t have time to get a visa.” Yeah, UJOP already knew how many people in their particular case would make all those certificates, how quickly they would respond, how quickly they could sign up at a visa point, etc. - people themselves, first of all, should keep this in mind, because it depends on them. Even I at Podebrady.ru cannot know for a person whether he will check his mail once a week or whether after sending him a letter he will begin to act within 12 hours.

    Courses for bohemians are for bohemians; courses for those entering universities - they are for those entering universities; Just Czech courses are not for those entering universities. I hope that someday people will begin to remember these simple rules and we will no longer see, for example, in Albertovo people wanting to enroll in universities.

  20. Volodya

    I think there are sections in linguistics that would be interesting for you too. For example, those that are close in functioning to mathematics.
    In general, there are not many people with similar abilities: those who go to philology are even fewer. That's why it may seem like they don't exist. Although they are the ones who cook all the porridge.
    In order for work on linguistics to be useful at this time, you need to go to the very depths and dig out a bunch of information. Or, on the contrary, be purely a practitioner and create the same manuals for foreigners (and, as we know, they are far from ideal). But the main thing is to be passionate about what you do. Are there really many of them? There are lazy people and scoundrels at every step: they select a summary from the corpus, and here you have a scientific work.
    I hate it when this science is abandoned. It has simply not yet entered the information world of the 21st century and we (as a society) have not yet had time to appreciate its importance. I hope there is more to come.

    A profession often begins from a hobby.

  21. Ilya Rudomilov

    This year's innovation is a summer school. center Hostivar will be held in Albertov. Why - I myself don’t understand, but the fact remains a fact. =)

  22. Sergey

    Hello, Ilya!

    Please advise English language courses for adults. I am 23 years old. Preferably for two weeks, with accommodation and a cultural program. I would count such courses as language practice at the university. I chose the Czech Republic - I want to get to know the sights and the country. I study in English in Hungary.

  23. Ilya Rudomilov

    Sergey, Greetings, Ilya Rudomilov

    4) in some universities, for example in Brno, it is taken

    3. No, summer school is not necessary. See the article for a description of why summer school is a purely entertainment program; there is no need to include attempts to “motivate a child to study in the Czech Republic”, “learn Czech”, “prepare for annual courses”.

    4. Yes, it’s available for rent everywhere. Examples:

    Therefore, physics is inevitably included in the course program at Marianske Lazne.

  24. Natalia

    Good afternoon. Two questions

    1. Admission to higher education. establishment after Russian college by specialization it assumes the same conditions as after 11th grade. classes or there are some deviations (for example, in general sciences there are fewer hours in college)
    2. Summer camp“Czech for schoolchildren” age is up to 18 years. Is this inclusive? (the child turns 18 in May 2019, they wanted to send him on vacation and “reconnaissance”)

  25. Ilya Rudomilov

    Natalia, Greetings,

    1. Absolutely the same exams, absolutely the same rules. The only difference is that you will be nostrifying a college diploma, and not a certificate for 11 classes - so it will probably pass without exams and you will not need certificates of hours (because they are already indicated in the application).

    2. You can submit an application, there should be no problems. I will notify you by email about the start of registration for summer school 2019. mail.

What to do in summer? – “relax, travel, play” you say. What about studying? What if we offer you to learn while playing, relaxing, and while traveling? How do you like this option?

Program “Month in the Czech Republic”- an ideal combination of relaxation, study and exciting travel. It is addressed to all young people, and is warmly recommended for students in grades 8-10, for whom it can serve as a preparatory stage for studying in Europe. But even without far-reaching plans, a month in the Czech Republic will be a complete pleasure for you: trips around Europe, getting to know the Czech and European way of life, culture, customs, cuisine, excursions, sports events, river walks and immersion in the fabulous atmosphere of Prague.

The horizons expand, emotions overwhelm, friendships grow stronger, languages (Czech, English) are untied. And all this in one month in the Czech Republic! Program participants will also have a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the Czech education system, the conditions for admission to Czech universities, learn which specialties are the most in demand, how things are in the Czech Republic with regard to the employment of graduates and career prospects.
