School weeks in. Number of school weeks

The question is interesting, although I, for example, don’t see much benefit in it. Unless for some statistics.

The answer to the first part of the question is: 52 weeks + 1 day.

The answer to the second part of the question caused me some difficulties, because there is no clarification in which country there are working and school weeks. The site is Russian-language, but in addition to Russians, residents of the entire CIS also come to it for information. For example, I live in Ukraine, some of my friends on the site are from Belarus and Uzbekistan.

We will assume that we are talking about Russian Federation, based on this there will be relevant information. Out of a total of 52 weeks, there will be 51 (fifty-one) working weeks. For example, in Kazakhstan there are 52 working weeks, since there are fewer New Year holidays there.

I found the following data on the number of school weeks in Russia: in the 2016-2017 academic year there will be 34 school weeks (33 for first-graders), the illustration below shows more details by quarter.

Also take a look at these questions:

  • How many full years, centuries and millennia are there from the birth of Christ?
  • How many states does the USA include?
  • Working production calendar for 2017 with holidays and weekends

Additional holidays in the 2017-2018 academic year

Additional holidays or rescheduling of holidays in schools and other educational institutions are possible for the following reasons:

  • Low air temperature– minus 25 degrees Celsius for primary school; minus 28 degrees – for high school; minus 30 degrees for students in grades 10 and 11.
  • Low temperature in classrooms. When the air temperature in classrooms is below +18 degrees, it is prohibited to conduct classes.

Vacations for students in the 2017-2018 academic year

There will be fewer vacations at institutes, universities and other higher educational institutions during the 2017-2018 academic year, since students rest only in winter and summer. Each university sets the exact vacation schedule for students depending on the session dates. Winter holidays for students begin at the end of January and end in mid-February. During the summer period, the dates of student holidays also depend on the session and practice, which is often scheduled for June, which means you can go on vacation only in July. Also, the practice may be postponed to August, and the holidays will begin in mid-June. Everything depends on the specific university, therefore, in order to carefully plan your vacation, you need to check the data with the university administration. The only thing that can be said for sure is that the holidays should not be less than 6 weeks.

Teachers, students and their parents, as well as students need to know about the number of school days and weeks in the coming school year. Students are primarily interested in the number of even and odd weeks, since the usual university schedule is built on this principle. This is important for preparing for theoretical and practical classes, for proper distribution of time for study, rest and work (for most students). Let's try to figure out how many school weeks there are in the new 2017/2018 academic year.

Even and odd weeks for universities

The first of September (no matter what day of the week this date falls on) always refers to the first week of school, which means odd. Thus, the duration of the 2017/2018 academic year in weeks looks like this.

Schoolchildren are rarely interested in the evenness of the week, since the schedule is drawn up uniformly for the beginning and end of the 2017/2018 school year.

The 2017/2018 school year begins on Friday. Parents and students, having visited school on September 1, can immediately plan the next 2 days off. Although in the first week the working day for students and schoolchildren is limited to one day (Friday 1 September) with a five-day work week, this is considered the first week of school.

The end date for school is traditionally May 25th. This day in 2018 falls on Friday. High school students celebrate the last bell holiday on this date. After it, the time comes for graduates to pass exams in the form of various types of certification:

  1. In the 9th grade - this is (the main state exam), which is synonymous with the GIA (state final certification);
  2. In 11th grade - this is the (unified state exam).

Total number of school weeks for schoolchildren

Depending on which class the child is sent to, we can talk about the number of school weeks in the upcoming school year. The total duration of the 2017/2018 school year in weeks is as follows:

  • for students in first grade – 33 weeks;
  • for students in grades 2-8 – traditional 34 weeks;
  • for students in grades 9-11 – 35 weeks.

The Ministry of Education limits the length of the school year within this framework - from 33 to 35 school weeks.

School weeks in the first quarter

Traditionally, the first quarter covers September and October. In September there will be 5 school weeks (counting the first week as one day), 21 school days. In October there are 4 school weeks, 20 school days. On October 30, the first holidays for schoolchildren - autumn - begin. They will end on November 7 (holiday National Unity- November 4th - falls on Saturday and is moved to Monday November 6th).

School weeks in the second quarter

The second quarter also lasts two months – November and December. In the coming school year in November there will be 4 school weeks, 18 school days. In December, children will also attend school for 4 weeks, 18 school days. It is planned to end the second quarter on December 27; on December 28, the second holiday for schoolchildren will begin - winter.

School weeks in the third quarter

The third quarter of school is traditionally considered the longest, most difficult and decisive. It lasts January, February and March. In January, schoolchildren will spend 3 weeks, 15 days in classes. In February, 4 school weeks are planned, 20 school days. In March, 3 school weeks, 17 school days. On January 11, the Ministry of Education recommends that students begin training sessions, and on March 26, release students for their next – third – spring break.

School weeks in the fourth quarter

The fourth quarter is the final quarter, it lasts April and May. In April there are 4 school weeks, 21 school days. In May there are 4 school weeks, 17 working days. Schoolchildren will return to their desks on April 2 and will spend the days at them until the end of May.

Study weeks at universities

In universities, the total number of academic weeks is limited to 40 weeks. Vacations for students are timed to coincide with. You can find out more precisely only from the administration of a particular university. The only thing that can be said is that in winter they last 2 weeks, and in summer – at least 6.

Knowing how many school weeks there are in the 2017/2018 academic year is important for vacation planning. We suggest that you obtain a complete answer to this question from the administration of the educational institution or the class teacher.

How many weeks are there in the 2018 school year? This is a question that worries not only teachers when drawing up their planning documentation, but also students and their parents as well. If we take a standard period that lasts the entire educational process, that is, starting from September 1 and ending on May 31 inclusive, then we end up with 40 working weeks. But this period also includes time for rest, that is, vacations, for which, according to existing legislation, exactly 4 weeks should be allocated.

As a result, it turns out that the children will have a training process lasting 36 weeks.

Now is the time to consider this issue in order, more carefully and accurately.

How many days are there in a school week?

As always, regardless of the year or any other conditions, the educational process in our country begins strictly on September 1. If you carefully study the calendar, this year this day falls on Friday. For many this is very good news. Why? It’s simple, since such a day can be counted as a whole week, but most importantly, schoolchildren still have two whole days of legal weekend ahead, that is, Saturday and Sunday, only after which they begin school. And it is on Monday that their first full school week begins.

Children will have to study without rest, that is, holidays, until October 27, since it is at this time that, according to the schedule and law, the autumn rest period begins and is planned. As a rule, the first holidays last exactly a week, that is, from October 30 to November 5. But on the morning of the 6th the children will have to go to school again.

The next holidays, as expected, come in winter, which are rightfully considered New Year's holidays and in terms of their timing they coincide with the rest schedule of adults. That is why at this time you can easily and freely plan a joint vacation with the whole family and spend time profitably. This year, the winter holidays are scheduled for the period from December 25, that is, from Monday, but you will have to return to school only on January 10. Why these numbers and not earlier? According to the calendar, January 6 and 7 falls on Saturday and Sunday. What does this give? That's right, according to the law, they are transferred to weekdays, as a result, schoolchildren have two more days of rest, that is, Monday and Tuesday, but on Wednesday they will have to go to school.

As for spring holidays, their duration is still 1 week and is tentatively scheduled from March 26 to April 2. Although each educational institution can slightly adjust and make its own changes to this established schedule.

And, of course, summer holidays, which are rightfully considered one of the most beloved and long-awaited, since they last exactly three months, with the exception of graduates who have many challenges ahead.

Lesson plan.

Well, now is the time to move on to a more careful and detailed study of the lesson plan for this entire academic year 2017-2018. It is worth noting that only approximate vacation dates were indicated above; of course, the educational process will begin on September 1, although there is no official and approved schedule yet. But, according to experts, it is unlikely that any changes should be expected in this project and everything will remain as it is. But one should not discount the fact that the Ministry of Education has the right to approve and offer only recommendations, while the final word always remains directly with each educational institution and leadership. Although, the director does not have any right to start the educational process earlier than September 1 and finish it later than June 1, unless, of course, there are any compelling reasons and grounds for this, which are prescribed in the charter of the educational institution and the law on education. Of course, high school students, despite the fact that the educational process ends by June 1, stay at school for another whole month, but this is in view of their exams. Also, do not forget about the following important and significant amendments.

So, the academic calendar itself of the even and odd academic year consists of 40 weeks, of which students will spend 36 weeks directly at their desks, and 4 weeks at home with their parents. At the same time, we should not forget that each educational institution has the right to make adjustments to the plan and schedule of the educational process, due to existing force majeure circumstances.

What do children love most about the learning process? Of course, school holidays, the peculiarity of which is that they end very quickly, unlike school weeks, which last and drag on for quite a long time. Study weeks in 2017 are quite an interesting topic, since their formation takes into account a large number of features and criteria. But, let's try to figure it all out, and also find out how long it will last academic year.

Probably everyone will agree with the opinion that the academic year affects not only schoolchildren, but also those children who are studying in various educational institutions and have the status of students. The beginning of the school year for each schoolchild or student begins completely differently, despite the fact that on September 1, ceremonies dedicated to the Day of Knowledge are held in all educational institutions of the country. It is at these meetings that the school director always gives a parting speech and wishes the children success in the upcoming school year, because there will be many difficulties on their way that they need to try to cope with and overcome. After the line, the first lesson is always held, after which all pupils and students go home, since the educational process begins only the next day. But how and in what way does the educational process take shape and form? This is one of the questions that worries not only schoolchildren, but also students who also want it not to drag on too long.

Formation of school weeks.

Today there are no strict frameworks and rules on how to correctly calculate and count the number of school weeks. If we consider this issue from the perspective of the existing law, then each individual educational institution has every right to independently choose and assign the amount of instructional time. At the same time, it is definitely worth remembering and taking into account the fact that each level of education has its own specific criteria and calculation rules. For example, at the junior level educational process has established its own long academic year, which differs from the middle and senior levels in the number of days and weeks. It's probably worth mentioning that in every educational institution It has its own Charter, which regulates all these issues related to the length of the academic year. In order to accurately answer this question, first of all, you need to carefully read the Charter.

It is also worth remembering that the number of school weeks directly depends on what grade the child is in and can vary from 33 to 35 weeks.

    1. The academic year for first-graders lasts exactly 33 weeks, and on May 25, school ends for them and they go on summer vacation. Moreover, it is this group of students who have extra holidays in the form of one week of rest in the winter season.
2.Middle and senior students study for 35 weeks.
    3. Particularly gifted students of secondary and senior education can study for fewer days due to their performance in all subjects and at the same time successful completion everyone tests, tests and exams.

4.Schoolchildren who do not keep up school subjects, and for many they have debts that must be worked off; they can study for more than 35 weeks until everything is passed. In this case, it depends on their desire and effort.
5.Officially, the academic year for senior and middle levels ends strictly on May 31.

As for possible changes in the school schedule, in this case a lot depends directly on what the situation will be like in the winter. After all, you must admit that at this time of year, various viral infections very often become active and sometimes children simply go on early vacations, which lead to a shift in those that were planned according to the schedule. It is worth remembering that such situations are also spelled out in the Charter of the educational institution.

As for university students, they have their own schedule for accruing academic weeks, which is also regulated and controlled by the Charter.
