Suvorov uniforms

In the fall of 1943, several thousand boys - war orphans and children of military personnel - put on scarlet shoulder straps with white trim.

Suvorov schools were organized, as noted in the resolution of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR and the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks, according to the type of cadet corps. There was a great similarity in the uniform.

Black cloth tunics of the Red Army type and untucked trousers with 2-cm single-row scarlet stripes made up the winter casual uniform of the Suvorov soldier. The summer one included a linen tunic with removable shoulder straps. Later it was replaced by a swing jacket, but black boots and a belt of the same color with a brass badge are still worn to this day.

The black ceremonial uniform of a Suvorov soldier was fastened with eight buttons and trimmed with scarlet along the cuffs and collar, on the red ends of the stand of which coils were embroidered in gold. The shoulder straps were sewn into the seams of the sleeves, as on an overcoat and tunic. The dress uniform included white gloves.

A black Red Army cut overcoat with a hook fastener was decorated with six decorative buttons in the middle, and scarlet buttonholes with white edging and buttons were sewn onto the collar.

The everyday cap was also black, with white trim, a scarlet band, a black visor and a red star. The summer one had a white removable linen top. A black fur cap with earflaps with a star crossed over a black cloth cap with scarlet piping.

A Suvorov officer with the rank of vice-sergeant was entitled to a golden braid around his shoulder strap, and a senior vice-sergeant - along it. The lower part of the shoulder strap was occupied by a golden SVU stencil, which has been preserved with some changes in the material and lettering to this day. The name of the school was indicated above: Kd - Krasnodar, Nch - Novocherkassk, St - Stalingrad, Vzh - Voronezh, Khr - Kharkov, Ks - Kursk, Or - Orlovskoe, Kl - Kalininskoe, Sp - Stavropol, and the name did not always correspond to the location.

These schools opened in September, and Tashkent (Tsh) and Kutaisi (Kt) - both for children of border guards - a little later. In 1944, Gorkovskoe (Gr), Kazanskoe (Kz), Kuibyshevskoe (Kb), Saratovskoe (Sr), Tambovskoe (Tb) and Tula (Tl) appeared, and after the war several more. Some schools changed their location and name, some were subsequently closed, the name code was removed from the remaining shoulder straps, and the uniform also underwent changes.

Uniforms for students of special military schools of the People's Commissariat of Education of the Union Republics.

Their new uniform and insignia were introduced on October 28, 1943. The shoulder straps were similar to cadet ones, but narrower - 4 cm, with a braid 7–8 mm wide (for petty officers - 15) and a SSH stencil in the lower part. Above was the school number. Soft ones were sewn into the seams of the sleeves of cloth uniforms; fastened sleeves were worn with cotton ones.

The jacket and overcoat were cut according to the officer's pattern. For casual uniforms they wore untucked khaki trousers; for formal uniforms they wore dark blue cloth trousers with piping. A cotton tunic without pockets was paired with edged trousers made of the same fabric. The khaki-colored cloth cap had no piping; an artillery or aviation cap served as an everyday cap. Ushanka with a big star It was of an officer's type, the belt had a brass plaque.

From time immemorial, the military uniform in Rus' has personified the idea of statehood and selfless service to the Fatherland. Therefore, to this day, a special high meaning is embedded in the concept of “uniform honor.” Let us remember that one of the most severe punishments in the cadet corps was deprivation of the right to wear a uniform or shoulder straps .
Military uniform– it’s the same cut a uniform, through insignia, showing that its owner belongs to one or another branch of the military, as well as the place he occupies in the military structure.

This definition is true not only for military personnel, but also for students of Russian military educational institutions, both in the past and today. The first cadet uniform appeared in Russia in 1732, and was developed based on the uniform of the Russian army of that time. Over two centuries, the cadet uniform has changed many times, keeping pace with the Russian military uniform worn in one era or another. Finally, at the beginning of the 20th century, cadets received a uniform that stood out for its simplicity and successfully met both the requirements of the educational process and the convenience of the students.

In 1900, the uniform of cadets of the Russian corps was as follows: “The uniform was single-breasted, with eight buttons, made of black cloth. The stand-up collar and cuffs are black, without piping. A scarlet flap was sewn onto the collar down to the back edge of the shoulder strap. A buttonhole made of gold braid – a “coil” – was sewn onto the valve. Shoulder straps different buildings differed from each other in the color of cloth, edging and encryption. Bloomers made of black cloth without piping were worn untucked.

The overcoat, made of black cloth, had 6 buttons in one row on the right side, in the middle of the chest. Scarlet cloth flaps were sewn onto the turn-down collar... A detailed description of the cadet uniform of the pre-revolutionary cadet corps, which, for obvious reasons, is not in the collection of our museum, is given in order to emphasize its durability - in 1943, when the uniform for Suvorovites was being developed, it was taken as a basis exactly the old cadet uniform.

For example, the overcoat of a Suvorov military officer from 1973 is not much different from the cadet overcoat of the beginning of the century. Black cloth, single-breasted, six buttons. The difference, at first glance, is only in the symbolism on the buttons and belt badge: the double-headed eagle with a “shine” was replaced by a five-pointed star. With hats it’s more difficult. The cadets did not wear hats, they were replaced caps with camel hair hoods in cold weather. Let's move directly to a small collection of uniforms from our Suvorov Museum.

It mainly consists of the Suvorov uniform, which was worn by students of the SVU over the past forty years.

In 1967, the Minister of Defense of the USSR, Marshal of the Soviet Union R.Ya. Malinovsky died. The new Minister, A.A. Grechko, decided to significantly change the uniform of military personnel of the Soviet Army. It should be noted that this time the uniform of privates and sergeants, which had remained virtually unchanged since the war, gave the soldiers a new look. In particular, instead of uniforms with a stand-up collar, open tunics appeared, which were worn with khaki shirts and ties. Entered into the form trousers untucked, and even encroached on the sacred - the Russian tunic was replaced by jacket with a turn-down collar.

Changes in uniforms also affected Suvorov soldiers. For them, a single-breasted woolen ceremonial uniform of black color is introduced, similar to the existing one, but with a turn-down collar, at the ends of which red stripes were placed buttonholes with white edging. The uniform was fastened with five uniform buttons, and there were welt pockets with flaps on the shelves. Along the upper edge of the cuffs there is laid red cant. Sewn onto the uniform shoulder straps made of red cloth with white edging, representing a rectangle with a beveled upper end. On the outer side of the left sleeve was attached a sleeve badge with the emblem of motorized rifle troops.

For everyday wear, Suvorov military personnel are equipped with black woolen jacket, By appearance and designs identical to the new ceremonial uniform, but without the sleeve insignia and an everyday summer uniform jacket made of linen, single-breasted, with a turn-down collar, without buttonholes, fastened with five uniform buttons of golden color, with side welt pockets, closed flaps, sleeves with cuffs, without piping, shoulder straps existing sample - removable.

The same star with an emblem is attached to the bands of the caps of Suvorov soldiers as on the caps of soldiers and sergeants of conscript service. Five decorative uniform buttons began to be sewn onto the fronts of overcoats instead of six. The rest of the uniform items of the Suvorovites remained the same. The museum has full set the above-mentioned Suvorov uniforms.

The next serious reform of Suvorov's uniform took place in the dashing nineties. appeared open jacket with a turn-down collar without buttonholes made of black cloth. Metal emblems of the corresponding branch of troops began to be attached to the corners of the collar. For by this time, several cadet corps had appeared as part of the military educational institutions of the Russian Armed Forces, and the uniform of the cadets differed from the Suvorov uniform only in shoulder straps and emblems.

Nakhimov team uniform 70s, USSR times

With the entry into force of the order of the Ministry of Defense of the Soviet Union dated 69, new standards for wearing military uniforms were approved for the army and navy. As earlier, dress distributed to:

  • field;
  • working;
  • front door;
  • everyday;
  • ceremoniously - day off.

Moreover, all of the above types, in turn, were divided into summer and winter forms. And let's take a closer look at each of them. The field uniform, based on their name, was intended for conducting field work, such as exercises, visiting the shooting range, duty and practicing maneuvers. The work uniform served as a kind of work clothing when carrying out construction or household work. Also, it could be worn during maintenance of weapons and equipment.

The page contains the form:

The casual uniform lived up to its name. It was worn almost every day, in classes and in free time at the location of the unit, during orders and in cases on the direct instructions of superiors.

The dress uniform was worn exclusively on special occasions: on the occasion of parades, ceremonial presentations of orders, flags, banners, when taking the oath and receiving awards.

The ceremonial outfit served as a kind of measure of the festive uniform. It was worn during major public holidays, such as the First of May, various anniversaries (October Revolution), on the days of Council sessions and even when going to the theaters. Moreover, this type of uniform was worn during layoffs and while on vacation.

All this was also regulated by the charter of the Nakhimov School.

It is worth noting that this form is the most relevant and convenient, and therefore it is the basis for creating uniforms for many educational institutions of our time, since its colors prevent rapid wear and tear and various stains and damage are not so visible on it. Although, as you know, such a form must always be in perfect condition, since a lot of attention is paid to this, and therefore it must be chosen of the best quality.

It is worth noting that this uniform is very comfortable to wear and not only has a beautiful formal look, but you can also easily and simply do any physical exercise in it if necessary. Therefore, this uniform of a student of the SVU EU of the KGB border troops under the Council of Ministers of the USSR is considered a model for many modern ones.
