Industrial water use

Water is an inalienable prerequisite for life, one of the most indispensable and versatile substances on Earth. Because it can absorb, store, and release tremendous amounts of heat, it stabilizes and controls the weather all around the world, and plays an important part in industry as well. It is estimated that 22% of worldwide water is used in industry.

Since water has a tendency to dissolve many naturally occurring substances, it can contain a large percentage of dissolved solids that if left untreated, will cause an excessive waste of valuable energy and ultimately result in equipment failure or a plant shutdown. How is water used in industry? What kind of unique properties does it have? What are the most frequently encountered problems one has to tackle whilst water and treatment thereof are being considered, either at home or in industrial cooling systems? This presentation will give you an answer to all the questions mentioned above.
