Independent travel: how-to guide

Photo by Ed YourdonYou want to travel on your own, but you're afraid and you don't know where to start? I won't give you any guarantee that your travel experience will be satisfying, but I will give you some initial information that will help you to plan and organize your trip:

  • how to find cheap air tickets
  • which visa do you need (if at all) and how to get it
  • where to stay abroad: finding and booking a hostel
  • how to meet great people: CouchSurfing
  • and lots of important minor details

I will try to show you that independent travel is not so difficult as it might seem, and I will use my trip to Europe this summer as an example.

English slang

English slang is not only "bad words",

Slang is the use of informal words and expressions that are not considered standard or professional in the speaker's language or dialect but are considered more acceptable when used socially. Slang is often used as a euphemism and may use informal lexicon to identify with one's peers....as wikipedia sad...

so at this presentation we will see some examples of using slang in everyday live, songs, and just funny expressions

Speech disorders

Your way of speaking is unique.

You use your own, specific tone, pitch, intonation, you have a unique voice; you may use unique words and grammatical constructions, have peculiar pronunciation of some sounds. Usually these differences do not interfere with other people understanding you, but sometimes they do. All over the planet there are people who stutter, gibber, lisp, not mentioning other, more complex, disorders, those that involve expressing ideas and understanding others' speech.

In my presentation I am going to dwell upon several types of speech and language impairments, how they look (or rather sound) like, what they are caused by, how to deal with them (and is there actually a cure) and try to answer your questions.

Beaches, elephants, temples, tourists..? Well, this is probably true.

But apart from the popular tourist destination, this is also a country with its people, culture, politics, languages, traditions, a country people love and miss, someone's motherland.

Come and discover some astonishing facts about the island from its native inhabitants!
